Insects of Oregon @ Straub Environmental Learning Center | Salem | Oregon | United States

Oregon is home to thousands of species of insects with many different ecological roles. This program will focus on learning to identify the major insect groups in western Oregon. The evening program lead be insect enthusiast Gail Gredler will look at the identifying characteristics of each of the major groups. We will also cover the roles each play in our environment. The Saturday morning workshop will start with a hands-on component in the classroom. After some practice at identifying insect orders, we will move outside to a local site to observe insects in the “wild”. This program is appropriate for middle school students and older. The class is held at the Straub Environmental Learning Center (1320 A. ST. NE) from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with a field trip to be arranged for the following Saturday. Cost for the class is $5 and cost for the field trip is $10. For more information go online to salemee.org or contact Jon Yoder at joyoder@wildblue.net
