Conifers are quintessential to the beauty, ecology, economy and livability of Oregon. Well known educator Rich Swartzentruber will review life histories of Oregon’s 30 indigenous species, and tree samples will be used for hands-on identification. Tips for using conifers in home landscaping will also be offered. A weekend field trip to the Cascades will allow for field identification, and will highlight the ranges of different species based on elevation and rain shadow effect. The class is held at the Straub Environmental Learning Center from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with a field trip to be arranged for the following Saturday.
