Oregon is a wonderful place to see a wide variety of birds due to its varied habitats including forests, deserts, the coastline, fields, and marshes. Expert birder Mike Unger will concentrate on winter bird identification including birds you might see in the valley this time of year. The remarkable birds we will discuss include raptors, ducks, shorebirds and songbirds. We will study the identification of these birds with color slides and audio recordings. Come along as we tour through the fascinating world of Oregon birds. On our Saturday field trip we will further develop our identification skills in the field at Minto-Brown Island Park or Ankeny NWR. The class is held at the Straub Environmental Learning Center (1320 A. St. NE) from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with a field trip to be arranged for the following Saturday. Cost for the class is $5 and cost for the field trip is $10. For more information go online to salemee.org or contact Jon Yoder at joyoder@wildblue.net
